Synopsis:

TRAV

I remember the first time I met Dylan Rodriguez. It was one sweaty encounter I’ll never forget.

The second time we met, he arrested me. I can still see the hot scowl on his beautiful face as he slapped handcuffs on me and realized I was … me.

Dylan’s main goal in life is to forget he ever met me. My goal is to make him mine.

Turns out, I’m better at this game than he is.

DYLAN

When my law enforcement career falls to pieces in front of my own eyes, I don’t know who I can trust.

I have nowhere to go. No one to turn to.

Asking Trav for help is a last resort, but I’m desperate.

If he can’t get me out of this mess, I may as well turn myself over to the guys hunting me down.

I’m not sure which will be more difficult: protecting my life or my heart.

Because when it comes to love, my heart wants what my brain doesn’t. It wants Travis West.

My Review:

After reading Iris in late January, I eagerly awaited the next book in the series, Rogue. I was so interested to see Trav as a main character—to really get a deep dive into his thought process. Trav was not entirely what I expected, but in the best way possible! He pleasantly surprised me, and I loved reading about him and Dylan’s dynamic.

Trav was smitten with Dylan ever since their first encounter years before, though Dylan was way more hesitant in admitting his feelings for Trav. And while Trav always exuded confidence in himself and his feelings for Dylan, he also hosted a few insecurities and doubts. Watching him break down his walls for Dylan was so sweet.

Dylan was also a great character! He was adamant from the beginning that he would never fall for Trav, and at first, he held strong in this affirmation. However, the more time the two spent together, the less Dylan could resist the pull. Dylan was so guarded about his feelings, not just from Trav but from everyone, partly because of his past and what he was sure awaited him in the future. Never once did he imagine a life with someone like Trav, but little did he know, it was exactly what he needed.

Because of Trav’s walls and Dylan’s resistance to admit his feelings, this resulted in a lot of banter! As an Eden Finley fan, this is something I’m not unused to, but there was even more than usual, and I was living for it. They were so snarky with each other and showed a side of themselves they wouldn’t with anyone else. I loved it!

While Trav and Dylan’s romance was something I enjoyed, and was certainly a highlight of this book, my favorite part was actually the action. About halfway through the book, the stakes ramped up quite a bit, and while I’d definitely been having fun before, after that, I was completely on board with the story. Since this series does surround a special ops unit, I tend to go into these books expecting a lot of investigation, action, and (of course) explosives. This one did not disappoint in that aspect. The last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat as everything unfolded.

Between Iris and Rogue, I’d say I preferred Rogue a little more. Iris was great, too, but Rogue had the perfect balance of action and romance that I was looking for. I loved watching Trav and Dylan get close to each other, and the cameos from the other Mike Bravo guys was awesome!

For those of you who enjoyed Iris, or have read and enjoyed any of Eden’s other books, I’d definitely recommend this one!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you so much to Eden Finley and Foreward PR & Marketing!

She doesn’t take anything too seriously and lives to create an escape from real life for her readers. The ideas always begin with a wackadoodle premise, and she does her best to turn them into romances with heart.

With a short attention span that rivals her son’s, she writes multiple different pairings: MM, MMF, and MF.

She’s also an Australian girl and apologises for her Australianisms that sometimes don’t make sense to anyone else.
